Sakshi Nagar 18-09-2023 07:17 PM Culture

Some things that are included in the list of people visiting Amritsar include visiting the Golden Temple and Jallianwala Bagh, trying the world-famous Amritsari Kulche, and going to watch the retreat parade of Indian BSF soldiers at the Wagah-Attari border. This is not an ordinary parade, in this parade along with Indian soldiers, Pakistani Army soldiers also parade across the border. In such a situation, it is natural for the enthusiasm of the Indians present in the parade to reach the heights of heights...isn't it? If you are also planning to visit Amritsar and Wagah Border, then this article is useful for you. We are going to give you all the information about the parade to be held at Wagah Border. And yes, there is a need to keep some things in mind while going to Wagah Border, otherwise, it may happen that you reach the border but return empty-handed without seeing and experiencing this magnificent parade.

WHAT ITEMS SHOULD YOU KEEP WITH YOU?

The parade at Wagah Border is like an open stadium. Here you will get a seat to sit but there may not be any roof above your head, because only half of the stadium has a roof above your head. Therefore, to avoid rain and strong sunlight here, always keep an umbrella or raincoat and hat in your bag. If you are going to feel the need for light food and water while watching the parade, then there is no need to carry it and increase the weight of your bag. Chips, ice cream, and snacks along with bottles of drinking water are easily available around the Wagah Border. The special thing is that here you do not have to pay much for water bottles, rather water bottles are available here at MRP only.

Note, if auto or rickshaw pullers try to scare you by saying that you will not get water bottles or light snacks to eat at Wagah Border, then do not fall for their words. You can enjoy them right from your seat at the Parade Stadium. Do not carry bags on the border. Lady's purses or big bags are not allowed within the prescribed limit at Wagah Border. Therefore, it would be better if women carry only a wallet and not any big bag or purse. Carrying mobile phones is allowed on the border but any other electronic gadgets like smart watches, headphones, electronic keys, etc. are not allowed. Therefore, it is wise not to take them along. If you accidentally leave with your bag, there is no need to panic. You will find many shops around Wagah Border where you can keep your belongings safe in lockers on rent.

HOW AND WHERE TO GET VEHICLES?

On the day you are planning to go to Wagah Border, come near the Golden Temple in Amritsar. From here you will get autos till Wagah Border which charges around ₹150 per person. If you have thought of taking a car on rent, then you will also get vehicles to the border in this area whose fare is around ₹ 1500.

SOME SPECIAL THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND

The parade at the Wagah-Attari border lasts for about 30 to 45 minutes, but people start gathering from noon itself to get a good seat at the front. Therefore, you should always leave for Wagah Border between 2.30 to 3 p.m. The parade starts between 6.15-6.30 pm. No entry fee is charged at the border. Entry here is free. Before the start of the parade, BSF jawans themselves dance to the beats of drums and call others to entertain the people. Here you will get a chance to experience the different styles of Indian Army soldiers. If you get a good seat, you can get a glimpse of the programs going on in Pakistan across the border (it is a different matter that when the soldiers of our country are standing in front, then where else can our eyes go). You will not get washroom facilities in the Wagah Border area. There is only one restaurant in this area, which you can call the first or the last restaurant in India. Washroom facilities will be available only there. At the Wagah Border, you will also see the barbed wire of the LoC (Line of Control), through which every border of our country is determined.
