WHAT IS A FILTER COFFEE?
Indian filter coffee is crafted using traditional stainless steel filter equipment, comprising two chambers: the upper chamber holds ground coffee, and the lower chamber collects the slowly filtered brew. This South Indian specialty is highly favored.
Often left to filter overnight, the resulting freshly brewed mixture is then combined with hot milk and sugar. Served in a small steel or brass tumbler called a 'dabara,' the coffee is traditionally frothed by transferring it between vessels before serving.
DIFFRENCE BETWEEN A FILTER COFFEE AND AN INSTANT COFFEE
Filter coffee is made by pouring hot water over ground coffee beans in a filter apparatus, allowing the coffee to slowly drip into a container below. This requires equipment such as a coffee maker or a simple filter setup, and time to make the coffee. On the other hand, instant coffee is made from brewed coffee that is dried. Resulting in the formation of soluble particles or powder. Instant coffee can be mixed immediately with hot water. Instant coffee does not have the flavor found in filter coffee; its taste is always mild. Whereas the taste of filter coffee is a bit hard.
INGREDIENTS TO MAKE FILTER COFFEE
Ground coffee 2 tbsp
Hot water
Milk 1/3 to 1/2 cup
Sugar 1 spoon
METHOD OF MAKING FILTER COFFEE
1. Pour 2 tablespoons of ground coffee into the upper compartment of the coffee filter.
2. Spread the coffee using a spoon or hand and then press the coffee with the disc.
3. Add boiling water and fill until it is almost filled to the top. Cover with a lid and let the coffee soak into the lower pot for 20 to 30 minutes.
4. Open the lid after about 20 minutes, by now all the water will have gone into the lower chamber. You can call it coffee decoction.
5. To serve coffee, add 1/4 to 1/2 cup of hot brew back into your cup. Add sugar to taste.
6. Add hot milk, it can be 1/3 to 1/2 cup, depending on how much milk you like.
7. Now pour the coffee from the glass
into the container to make it frothy and dissolve the sugar. And then from the
bucket into the glass. Repeat until foamy.
