These places offer fine clothes, jewelry, and a variety of items for traditional celebrations. So, let's know about such markets in India which have been running for centuries.

MEENA BAZAAR, DELHI

Delhi's Meena Bazaar is the oldest traditional market in India, dating back to the reign of the Mughals. You will get everything at this place for wedding shopping. This market is situated between Jama Masjid Kalan and Dalan of Delhi. Along with sarees, and suits, you will also find a wide variety of jewelry collections like necklaces, earrings, etc. in Meena Bazaar. This is a one-stop shop for all your wedding shopping.

GEORGE TOWN, CHENNAI

George Town was established in 1600 only after the construction of Fort St. George. It is also called Black Town. It was renamed George Town in 1900 during King George's visit to India. From jewelry, and clothes to even vegetables, you will find it in George Town. At this place, you will find many buildings built by the British which have now been converted into government offices. There are also many temples around George Town like Sri Chennamalleswarar Temple, Sri Sivasubramanya Swamy Temple etc.

LAAD BAZAAR, HYDERABAD

If you are a good bargain hunter, then Laad Bazaar in Hyderabad is the best place for you. Laad Bazaar, located to the right of Hyderabad's famous Char Minar, is an ancient market selling perfumes, sarees, and embroidered jewelry.

JOHRI BAZAAR, JAIPUR

Jaipur's Johri Bazaar is the best place to shop for jewelry. Johri Bazaar means jewelry market. Here you will find all kinds of traditional jewelry like Polki, Kundan, and meenakari. Meenakari is the most distinctive style of jewelry in Jaipur. Apart from jewelry, you will also find beautiful lehengas and bangles, etc. in this market. Jaipur's famous Hawa Mahal is also located just behind the market, which will introduce you to the history of this city. CHOR BAZAAR, MUMBAI

During the British period, this market was called Shor Bazaar which means noisy market. Later due to the noise, this market was named Chor Bazaar which means need of thieves. Since most of the stolen and old things were sold at this place, this market was called Chor Bazaar.

SARDAR MARKET, JODHPUR

Sardar Market, located in Jodhpur City of Rajasthan, is an ancient site built by Maharaja Sardar Singh. You will find everything you need for weddings and any other significant event here. Here handicrafts, spices, antiques, and clothes, etc. will be found. In this market of Jodhpur, the shopkeepers sell their local products in traditional attire, and these clothes shopkeepers attract every customer who comes here. EEMA MARKET, IMPHAL

The most important thing about Eema Market in Imphal is that it is the only market run by women in the world. During lunch in this market, women discuss social and political issues. More than 4000 women run shops in Ima Market and here you will find women in traditional Manipur clothes selling spices, local herbs, etc. This beautiful market of Manipur has been running for centuries.

JEW TOWN, COCHIN

A tiny antique market close to Mattancherry Fall's synagogue, Jew Town is an eminent hotspot for shopaholics and antique lovers in Cochin. This place was once the abode of several Jews until they shifted back to Israel, and their belongings were restored and are now sold as antiques in the town. Moreover, the houses of Jews are also there and you can roam around these small streets and have a look at them.
