Momos are a delightful and versatile snack that originates from Tibet and is popular across the globe. These bite-sized dumplings can be steamed, fried, or served in a flavorful broth. Whether you're in the mood for a savory treat or something sweet, there's a momo recipe for everyone. Try the classic Kurkure Momos, where crispy, deep-fried momos are filled with a delicious vegetable mixture. For a tangy twist, opt for Jhol Momos, served with a flavorful, spiced sauce. For a dessert version, indulge in Chocolate Momos, filled with melted dark chocolate and mixed nuts. Each recipe offers a unique, delicious experience!

KURKURE MOMO RECIPE

INGREDIENTS:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 tsp salt

Water (for kneading)

1 cup cabbage (chopped)

1/2 cup grated carrots

1/2 cup onions (chopped)

1/2 cup crumbled paneer/tofu (optional)

1 tsp ginger-garlic paste

1-2 green chilies (chopped)

1 tsp soy sauce

1/2 tsp black pepper

1 tbsp oil

1 cup breadcrumbs

1/2 cup cornflakes (crushed)

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 cup cornflour

1/2 tsp red chili powder

Oil for frying

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Mix flour, salt, and water to make a soft dough. Let it rest for 30 mins.

2. Heat oil, sauté ginger-garlic paste, onions, and chilies. Add carrots, cabbage, paneer/tofu, soy sauce, black pepper, and salt. Cook for 3-4 minutes and let cool.

3. Divide dough into balls, roll into discs, fill with veggies, and seal into momos.

4. Steam momos for 10-12 mins.

5. Make a batter with flour, cornflour, chili powder, and water. Coat steamed momos in batter, then breadcrumbs and crushed cornflakes.

6. Fry until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.

7. Serve hot with dipping sauce. Enjoy!

JHOL MOMO RECIPE

INGREDIENTS:

2 cups Maida (flour)

10g Oil

5g Salt

2 cups Water

1 Onion (chopped)

1 tsp Ginger garlic paste

2 cups Cabbage (sliced)

1 Carrot (grated)

1/4 cup Spring onion

1/5 cup Coriander leaves

50g Butter

1/4 cup Sesame seeds (paste)

1 tbsp Cumin powder

2 Garlic cloves (crushed)

1 cup Tomato (puree)

1/2 tsp Turmeric

Salt to taste

1 tsp Lemon juice

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Mix Maida, oil, salt, and water to make a smooth dough. Rest for 30 mins.

2. Sauté onion, and ginger-garlic paste in butter. Add carrot, cabbage, spring onion, coriander, cook until tender, then cool.

3. Roll dough, fill with veggie mix, and seal into momos.

4. Blend sesame seeds into a paste. Sauté garlic, then add tomato puree, cumin, turmeric, and salt and cook. Add lemon juice.

5. Steam momos until cooked. Serve with jhol and garnish with coriander leaves. Enjoy!


CHOCOLATE MOMO RECIPE

INGREDIENTS:

2 cups Refined flour

¾ cup Dark chocolate (melted)

1 cup Mixed nuts (crushed)

¼ cup Desiccated coconut

Oil, salt, and water for kneading

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Mix melted chocolate, nuts, and coconut in a bowl.

2. Knead flour, salt, oil, and water into dough. Let rest for 30-40 minutes.

3. Roll dough into discs, and cut with a cookie cutter.

4. Add chocolate filling to each disc, and fold it into momos.

5. Steam for 10-15 minutes.

6. Serve hot. Enjoy!
