DELICIOUS FASTING RECIPES FOR SHRAVAN MONTH

The Sawan month is considered as the most beloved month of Lord Shankar, during which Lord Shiva is worshipped. These days lakhs of worshipers keep fast to get the blessings of Bhole. During fasting days, people refrain from eating meat, grains, alcohol, onion, garlic, etc. So, here are some delicious and easy recipes which you can easily have in the month of Sawan.

ARBI KI TIKKI

Ingredients:

Arabi (Colocasia)

Chilli powder

Cumin powder

Black salt

Lemon juice

Method:

1. First of all boil the arbi by adding a pinch of salt in a cooker and peel it when it cools down.

2. After that flatten the colocasia with the help of your hands and fry it by adding ghee or oil to the frying pan, until arbi becomes golden brown and crisp.

3. Now, mix red chili powder, cumin powder, black salt, and lemon juice and put fried colocasia in this mixture.

4. Coat the arbi tikki well and serve it hot with tea.

SAMAK RICE KHICHDI

Ingredients:

Samak rice

Potato

Cumin

Black pepper

Red chili paste

Ghee

Water

Rock salt

Method:

1. To make this, first soak the samak rice for about an hour and then drain the excess water.

2. Take 2 tbsp oil/ghee in a hot pan and add cumin seeds. Fry till cumin seeds change color.

3. Add red chili paste and ½ tsp black pepper powder as per your requirement. Add potatoes while stirring them well and let them cook for three to four minutes.

4. After which add rice and add water as required, and cover the pan with a lid.

5. After the rice is well cooked, add lemon juice and rock salt. Serve it with Kadhi / Chutney / Curd.

VRAT KADHI

Ingredients:

Fresh yogurt

Rajgira flour

Cumin

Green chili paste

Water

Oil/ghee

Rock salt

Method:

1. First of all, beat a cup of fresh curd in a bowl.

2. Mix well by adding half a cup of water to about 3 tablespoons of Rajgira flour (any other flour that you like to eat during fasting).

3. In a hot pan, take 2 tbsp oil/ghee, add cumin and chili paste, and stir well. And now mix curd in it.

4. Bring the curry to a boil and add rock salt and sugar as needed. Let it cook while stirring well till the curry becomes thick.

5. Serve the Kadhi with Samak Rice or Rajgira Puri.
