DEVOTEES PROFFER STRANGE OFFERINGS IN THESE TEMPLES

India is a country of traditions and faith and there are some such temples in India where the style of worship is also unique and those who are worshiped are also different. Do you know that there are temples in our country where strange offerings are proffered as Prasad. So, in this article, we have listed some of the major temples of India where people offer a strange types of Prasad.

1. KARNI MATA TEMPLE, RAJASTHAN

About 30 km from Bikaner, Rajasthan, there is a temple of Karni Mata, which is considered to be an incarnation of Jagdamba Mata, in Deshnok, which is also known as the mother of rats, the temple of rats and the mouse temple. Here rats are called Kaaba. The special thing is that there are about 25000 rats in the temple. It is considered inauspicious for rats to come under the feet and that is why one has to drag the feet here and there. These rats come out of their burrows during Mangala Aarti which is held in the temple at five in the morning and Sandhya Aarti in the evening surprisingly, there has never been a case of plague and there is no foul smell in the temple. Many dishes are offered to the rats in the temple. Later the Prasad of the same is distributed among the devotees.

2. WHISKEY DEVI TEMPLE, UJJAIN

The Kaal Bhairav Temple is situated on the banks of the Shipra River in Ujjain city of Madhya Pradesh. For the last 40 years, only whiskey, rum, and vodka are offered as prasad in this temple. This temple dedicated to Kaal Bhairav is believed to make Lord Bhairav happy and fulfill everyone's wishes. Not only this, the liquor offered here is distributed as prasad to all the devotees, be it women, men, or children. If you pass outside Ujjain's 'Kaal Bhairav temple, you will see people carrying whiskey bottles inside. Every Sunday evening there is a queue of devotees who have liquor bottles in their hands. After the 7.30 pm puja, it is collected from the devotees and offered there as prasad. Devotees believe that 'Bhairav' swallows every drop that is offered to him.

3. CHINESE TEMPLE, KOLKATA

The Chinese Kali Temple is located in the famous Tangra area of Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, this area is also known as China Town. There is a mix of Tibetan and East Asian cultures in this area, which makes it a good tourist attraction. Although the temple and the idol look like any other Goddess Kali temple in India, what makes it different from others is the offerings here. Here the priests do not offer sweets as prasad, but Chinese dishes like noodles, chop suey, sticky rice, and many other dishes are also offered to Goddess Kali. Bhog is first offered to the goddess and later this prasad is distributed among the devotees. About 20 years ago, people from the Bengali and Chinese communities built the Chinese Kali Temple at Tangra, Kolkata.

4. MURUGAN TEMPLE, KERALA

If you go to the temple, then you must have taken sweets or fruits to offer to the Lord, but if you want to take the blessings of Lord Murugan, then you have to take a lot of chocolates in the Mancha Murugan temple built in Subrahmanyapuram area outside the city of Alleppey in the state of Kerala. According to the scriptures, Murugan is the son of Shiva and Goddess Parvati. No one knows when the custom of offering chocolates started in the temple, but if some reports are to be believed then the crowd of children increases considerably at the time of examination. Not only children, but people of all ages, religions, and castes also offer chocolates to Balamurugan.

5. WATER BOTTLE TEMPLE, GUJRAT

This temple is located in Gujarat, when the vow is fulfilled, people offer bottles of water. This temple is visible while going from Patan to Modhera in Gujarat. On May 21, 2013, there was a massive collision between an auto rickshaw and a car at this place. In this accident, 6 out of 8 people died on the spot. Both the seriously injured children were thirsty and were constantly asking for water, but no one gave them water. Later both of them died. It is said that soon after this accident, accidents started happening at that place. After this incident, the local people felt that this was happening because of the death of those two children. In such a situation, considering those two children as deities, the local people made a small temple out of some bricks and started worshiping there. People believe that after the construction of the temple, the salty water of the nearby wells also became sweet. Along with this, accidents on the road have also stopped.
