WHAT IS A VEGAN DIET?

Vegan food is only derived from plants i.e., naturally occurring food products. A vegan diet excludes foods from animals i.e., non-vegetarian food, which also excludes common foods such as eggs, cheese, milk, and honey. Many people around the world follow a vegan diet for different reasons. Some people are vegan for health reasons, as it improves a person's health. Also, the consumption of vegan food also protects them from chronic diseases like cancer, diabetes, blood pressure, weight loss, etc.

Some people decide to become vegan out of concern for animal welfare and the environment. Apart from this, many countries promote vegan food, such as about 3 percent of American people following a vegan diet, whereas, in a country like India, the number of people consuming vegan food is less. If you look at the statistics, only 20 to 40 percent of the population in India is vegan. However, India has a wide variety of vegan foods including vegetables and herbs. While a vegan diet has become very popular in the present times, it also reduces some of the nutrients. Keeping this in mind, essential nutrients should be included in the food and vegan people should be more careful about the foods they eat.
