1. MAWLYNNONG – MEGHALAYA
Located 90
km from Shillong on the India-Bangladesh border, Mawlynnong is famous for being
the cleanest village in Asia. “Incredible India” springs to mind when visiting
this village, for its beauty is superseded by a great margin. It is an ideal
village form in India, as the main occupation of the people there is
agriculture, the literacy rate is 100%, there are only about 100 houses, and
the natural beauty is mesmerizing. A bamboo sky tower provides beautiful views
of the village and Bangladesh as well.
2. POOVAR – KERALA
The small
village located in the Trivandrum district in the southern part of Kerala has
an age-old historical value as well as simple and captivating beauty. Despite
being only 30 km away from Trivandrum, it is not commonly found in people's
streets of places to visit in South India, hence making it an untouched and
unexplored wonder. During high tide, the Nayyar River flows into the Arabian
Sea, and the beauty of the scene lends it a mesmerizing beauty. The legendary
Sri Bhadrakali Devi Temple is situated close to the village.
3. KIBBER – HIMACHAL PRADESH
Located in
the Spiti Valley of the Himalayas, Kibber is the highest village in the world
which is connected by roads. There are only 80 houses in the village, but they
are unique in that they are all built of stone, not brick, as is common in
those areas. The plant is rare but has high medicinal value. There is a
monastery that was established in 1992. It is one of the most beautiful
villages in India with its beautiful mountains and barren grandeur.
4. MATTAM – TAMIL NADU
Mattam is a
fishing village with 99% of the population of Christian ethnicity. The village
is famous for Mattam beach, which is quite pristine. The beach is covered by
sand on one side and by rocks on the other. It is a less crowded beach, making
it a great find for tourists. The sunset view from the lighthouse also has a few
other things to see.
5. MALANA – HIMACHAL PRADESH
Located in
the Parvati Valley, Malana is considered to be the world's first democracy. It
is cut off from the rest of the world, with people speaking a dialect they can
understand and following strict customs. Quietly associated with this place few
travelers go there to explore the attractions of Parvati Valley as well.
6. LAMAYURU – LADAKH
One of the
oldest monasteries in Ladakh, the village is easily accessible from Leh. The
peculiar geological landscape of the place is referred to as a "moonscape", as it is believed that the soil here is quite similar to
the soil on the moon. Nestled amidst the beautiful Ladakh Mountains, the
Lamayuru monastery is the main attraction of the village, especially the annual
festival or Yuku Kabgyat, where the lamas perform a masked dance.
