Goa carnival attracts party and beach lovers like ants to sugar for a thousand years. With mouth-watering food, fun activities and endless sessions of live music, this is a heaven for all. And to add to the fun, it is absolutely free.
What is Goa Carnival about?
This festival is celebrated before Lent to commemorate the 450-year-old presence of the Portuguese in Goa. Lent is fasting and penance period among the Catholics, 40 days ahead of Easter celebration. It is celebrated in Panaji, Mapusa, Vasco and Margao. Each of these cities hosts a parade on separate nights with people dancing, marching, dressed in colourful costumes, while streets light up.
During the Goa Festival, the restaurants and hotels across Goa put in their best efforts and ingredients to prepare delicious dishes for the partiers. People from all parts of the world and is said to be the best festival one would ever see in the Goan culture.
