Tips to Beat the Lockdown Blues for Travellers

Summers were close, all of us had planned our trips with friends, family or solo. But who knew fate had something entirely different planned for us. Many of us had to cancel tickets, hotel bookings and other reservations. This lockdown has affected no one as much as us travellers, the people who loved going out and exploring places.
Our trip clothes and shoes are lying in a corner, and our suitcases are covered in dust. We are stuck in our homes for an indefinite period of time. All of this must be giving you the lockdown blues. But I have figured out of a way of beating my blues and thought I must share it with the others of my kind.
Plan the trip to your dream destination

Yes, sit down and think how many days you would want to spend there. Note down a day to day detailed itinerary, including trivia about the places you would visit each day. Read about the not so popular places to explore at your dream destination and include the ones you really like in your itinerary. Find out about the local cuisines and drinks; and look up the restaurants or shops that make the best of these eateries. Plan out an in detail road map and the places you would like to stay after checking the ratings and reviews of those lodging options you go for. Figure out a rough budget and as there's not much to spend on these days, start saving for the trip.
Make a photo collage of your past adventures

Take out those old clicks from your past trips and arrange them in a day by day order. Make tiny collages of pictures of each day and stick them in a scrapbook, if you don't have that use any notebook. On the page next to the photo collage, write down some special memory of the day. You can also decorate your walls with these photos, if you're allowed to. If you have those photos saved digitally, don't panic. Make a tiny slide show of these photos and title each presentation with a creative name that describes the entire trip in not more than 5 words. I'm telling you it will be fun to watch now or even in the future.
Explore the lesser known places

Spend some time peering into the old atlas that has been eating dust ever since school was over. Jot down the names of the destinations you haven't heard of before and Google them up. Read about them, find out the places you can visit there, things that are highly popular there, food and marketplace. Add the names of the ones you find interesting in your travel bucket list. This would build your bucket list and also help improve your general knowledge about lesser known places in the world.
Google the most random things you can think of

And open as many articles as you find there. I promise you would really come across the craziest of things. Things you would have never known, places you might've never heard of, rituals and customs that would blow your mind and foods that would make your mouth water. Write down the things you really would want to try, experience or watch once in your lifetime. Build a crazy bucket list. If you are an adventure sports enthusiast, there's a lot more activities in store for you than you know, do find them. There's a lot in store for each of one of you.
Write a lockdown diary

Write down what you did each day during this lockdown to pass your time. It might seem boring right now but imagine reading it in the future or showing it to your kids as to how you got through these difficult times. Your effort would be well appreciated by your future self. In great detail describe your day, what you felt, what you did, this won't just help you pass time but also improve your writing skills.
Read a book or a blog on travel

There is a lot of literature available everywhere be it books or blogs online in this genre. Read them, feel what the writer has to say about his journey, be it fiction or real, imagine each word of the story. It would be like going on a trip in your mind, sitting in your room. If you are not a fan of reading, there are a lot of tourist destinations and national parks offering virtual tours during the lockdown, you can look up for those and take a tour.
