The folklore about the haunted Dumas

The Dumas beach is known for its black sand and the horror stories. The locals tell that this place used to be an ancient Hindu burial ground, and the ash is the reason why the sand on the beach is black. It is said that the unfulfilled spirits of the people cremated here have yet not left the beach.

Is it really haunted?

A number of paranormal activities have been reported on the beach. People living close to the beach have often claimed hearing disembodied voices, cries and moans and sometimes laughter at the beach at night. Many locals and tourists have gone missing on the beach never to be found again. A tourist was once found dead on the beach, the reason of his death is still a mystery.

A group of friends that once stayed at the beach at night revealed, through the pictures, that some unrecognized figures and light orbs were seen in the photos. Skeptics claim that this could be due to some technical faults in the camera that might have led to the glitches in the photos. But who would dare to stay here alone at night, right?

How to reach Dumas Beach

Dumas Beach is easily accessible from Surat. It is about 20 km from the city and any public transport could bring you here in just half an hour or so, depending on the city traffic.
