Karnataka Government issues revised guidelines for inter-state travel

On May 31, Karnataka Government has lifted restrictions on intra-state and inter-state travel as it laid down the plans of easing the lockdown in a phased manner in the state, excluding the containment zones.

The Government has revised the interstate travel protocols for the phase 1 that will be effective from today, June 1. The revised guidelines have strict 14 days quarantine rule for people arriving in both rural and urban areas of the state.

The revised protocols issued by Karnataka Government

  • An e-pass or registration on the Seva Sindhu app is mandatory.
  • Covid-19 tests will be mandatory on arrival and any individual who is symptomatic will have to go for seven day hospital isolation.
  • If the symptomatic traveller is tested positive, he will be shifted to the Covid-19 treatment wards. If the person is tested negative, no further tests would be required.
  • For travellers coming to the state from Maharashtra, seven days hospital isolation is compulsory, followed by a week of home quarantine.
  • The special travellers from Maharashtra will be excluded from hospital quarantine rule but will have to self isolated at home for 14 days.
  • The people who would fall into the special passengers’ category are those who had a death in the family, pregnant women, children below 10 and senior citizens over 60, and someone having a health issue.
  • For business travellers from Maharashtra, they will not be hand stamped if they have a return ticket dated within seven days and a Covid-19 negative test certificate.
  • Travellers from other states will have to home quarantine themselves for 14 days.
  • For those following home quarantine will need to have a quarantined poster on their door and will have to inform at least two neighbours.
  • Those who fail to follow any of the above guidelines, an FIR will be filed against them.

State sees highest spike in number of cases on Sunday

On Sunday, Karnataka reported the biggest spike in the number of cases within the state. More than 299 people were tested positive of Covid-19. The health department of the state has reported 2 deaths on May 31, taking the death toll to the total of 51. So far, 3221 people have been tested positive of the disease with 1218 people recovered and 1,950 active cases.
