Experts say camping can be the safest vacation you can take right now. But there are still some risks. There are tips that you can follow for a safe camp outside.

The experts say that being outdoors is safer as we are not congregating with too many people. But that does not mean that we let our guard down. With certain care tips kept in mind, we can enjoy a perfect camp outdoors with family.

Call the campsite to enquire how safe it is

Experts say that before finalising what campsite you will be visiting, call them. Ask them questions related to the extra precautionary measures they're taking to keep the campsite safe for tourists. Make sure that they are also taking measures to avoid too many people being present within the camping grounds at the same time.

Also inquire if they would be screening the visitors and only allowing the asymptomatic visitors into the campsite. The precautions taken by the campsite should be at the top of your list while deciding where you would be going. Their precautions ensure your safety.

Go camping only with your safety group

Plan your camping trip only with the people you have been in the house with or trust that they have been practicing social distancing guidelines. And you should also keep the camp group small. Do not take to many people with you.

As cities are easing restrictions people might have gone out and came in contact with other people so only pick the ones you are sure have not been in any risky areas or come in contact with an unknown person. Also you should too stay home if someone you came in contact with has been tested positive for the coronavirus.

Use public restrooms with precaution

Public restrooms can be risky as they are high touch areas but might be the only and best way to wash your hands at the campsite. Experts say that if the public restroom is your only option, bring your own supplies. Take disinfectant wipes with you and wipe the high touch areas such as faucets, door knobs and latches before touching them with your bare hands. You can also carry gloves with you.

If your trip is short like a weekend outing, you can consider skipping showering, as it would reduce the risk of exposure to the coronavirus, or any other microbial infection. But if you do have to shower, wear shower shoes and clean the handles with wipes. Carry your personal soaps and towels.

Wear a mask and maintain social distancing

Wearing a mask within the campsite is still important specially if there are other people there with you, other than your peer group. Keep a distance of six feet when you are with strangers. Avoid places like dining areas, barbeque tables and fire pits, if it is too crowded.
