Goa to Impose Restrictions on Tourists after Lockdown is lifted
Goa is one of the most popular tourist destinations of India, attracting a huge crowd of both national and international tourists every year. This state makes most of its revenue from tourism. But with the spread of COVID-19 on the rise, the Minister of Health, Vishwajit Rane has taken some strict decisions related to tourists travelling through air to Goa, after the lockdown is lifted.
Restrictions imposed on air travellers
The Minister has announced that tourists who travel to Goa by air, won't be permitted in without a valid health certificate, after the restrictions imposed on air travel is lifted and airports reopen. Minister, Vishwajit Rane, made this announcement on 14th April.
According to the news, he also added that he has requested Chief Minister of Goa, Pramod Sawant, to put forth his case with the Union Aviation Ministry that the entry of air travellers without health certificate should be banned. The Minister also claimed the Civil Aviation Ministry can update the airlines in India about this rule.
Additional steps taken by the Government
In the announcement, Vishwajit Rane also said that, though all the patients of COVID-19 in Goa have been cured, the state has no plans of lifting the restrictions. To be extra careful, the State Government is planning to improve testing amenities. At state borders and industrial estates, they will place around 10 fast track testing booths. And following the Epidemic Act, masks will be mandatory in all public places.
Goa could be a green zone by 17 April
According to the CM of Goa, as no new cases of the pandemic have been reported within the state, Goa could be labelled as a green zone by 17 April. The few cases reported positive in South Goa are recovering, hence this part of the state can already be called a safe zone. The reports say, if all happens as expected, the Government offices will reopen by 20th April, the lockdown in the state will be lifted only after 3rd May.
