Government officials against resuming road and train travel after lockdown
Ministers not in favour of immediate relaxation
During the meeting a number of ministers did not support resuming interstate travel by road or trains immediately after the lockdown is lifted on 3rd May.
According to the sources, the extension of the lockdown is yet to be decided, and will depend on the situation of spread of COVID-19 across the country. The ministry is also concerned about resuming interstate travel as it can be risky to allow people to travel across states, as some states across the country are still having a tough time in containing the spread of COVID-19. Resuming the train travel right after the lockdown is lifted was also a hot topic and a number ministers responded in a no to it.
MHA is keeping a check on the situation
Amit Shah, the Home Minister, has examined the working of the MHA control room and assessed the situation in different states. G Kishan Reddy, Nityanand Rai, the home secretary and other officials of the home ministry were also a part of the meeting.
The MHA is working round the clock, staying in touch with all the ministers and state ministers to resolve the issues related to the implementation of lockdown.
