Indian airlines may resume domestic services from June
Domestic flight may resume in India from the first week of June. The senior aviation officials say that the airlines will start booking tickets 10 days before the services resume. The flights have been grounded since March 25 due to the nationwide lockdown to contain the spread of COVID-19.
International flight may resume soon too
There is still not much clarity as to when the international flights will resume but the officials have mentioned that it would resume only after assessing the situation and the number of cases of COVID-19. But they are hopeful that international services might too resume from the first week of June.
The aviation official has also added that they are planning to give airlines the permission to open booking 10 days before the operations resume. But this only for the domestic fights.
Airlines desperate to resume services
The private airlines are already booking advanced tickets for both domestic and international flights, their sites had resumed booking services from last Saturday. Although airlines like Spicejet, AirAsia, IndiGo, Vistara and GoAir are booking tickets of departure from June 1, Air India has not yet begun pre-bookings.
Capa India, the aviation consultant has revealed that the aviation sector of the country will suffer a loss of upto $3 to 3.6 billions by the mid-June, due to the pandemic lockdown. The airlines seem desperate to resume their services as they are running low on cost. This is due to the indefinite lockdown that has forced aircrafts to stay grounded.
