Indian Railway cancels trains till 30th June, know the guidelines for refund

IRCTC has cancelled all booking of regular trains, Shramik and special trains excluded, up till 30th June due to the coronavirus pandemic. The railway will refund the full amount of the ticket to everyone who had booked the tickets. The Shramik and Special passenger trains will continue operations as planned. As per the railways, the refund will be provided to those with effect from 21st March.
The railway board issued an order on 13th May that included waiting list provision on the special passenger trains from 22nd May.

The railways has limited the number of passengers in the waiting list:
- 100 for AC 3 tier
- 50 for AC 2 tier
- 200 for Sleeper Class
- 100 for chair car
- 20 for AC 1 tier
- 20 for Executive Class
The bookings for journeys from 22nd May will start from 15th May.
The revised guidelines for refund issued
A new revised guideline on cancellation of the tickets has been issued by the Ministry of Railways, with effect from 21st March. The guideline includes the following points:
- The refund across the counter, on tickets of trains cancelled by the Indian Railways, can be taken after submitting a ticket of up to 6 months before the date of journey.
- Online tickets will also be refunded. The refund (balance amount of cancellation charge) will be credited to the account from which the ticket was booked.
- The refunds on tickets booked from the Passenger Reservation System counters can be taken by filing Ticket Deposit Receipt within six months from the date of the journey at the station and submit the TDR form to Chief Claim Officer within the next 60 days.
- For trains that are not cancelled but the passenger does not
wish to travel, it will be a special case and full refund for reserved tickets
(PSR counter generated or e-ticket) will be givll be given.
