The Central Government has declared lockdown 5.0, which is more of an unlock phase in the country and offers a lot of travel relaxations. In Unlock-1, interstate travel has been permitted with some guidelines. The Ministry of Home Affairs has laid down some guidelines you need to follow till June 30.

Following the guidelines by MHA, the Union Civil Aviation Ministry has restarted domestic air travel in India. While the air travel has been permitted, the number of flights arriving and departing at an airport has been lowered. Metros linking airports to the cities have been closed.

Here are things you need to know before opting for air travel

  • All the passengers will have to undergo thermal scanning and they must have the Aarogya Setu app downloaded in their phones, to determine they're not from the highly infected areas.
  • Passengers need to sign a statement as proof that they are coming not from containment zones and not symptomatic of the COVID-19.
  • Only one cabin bag and one check in baggage would be allowed with the passengers. A laptop bag or handbag is allowed in addition to that.
  • NDMA guidelines have stated that all check in must be done online to avoid contact. Passengers must carry the printout of the baggage tags at check in; if printers are not available they can simply note the ticket PN and their name on baggage.
  • No meals will be served on the flights, passengers are allowed to bring dry food items with them. They should avoid eating on board unless very necessary.
  • If you are travelling through a connecting flight, you must wait in the transit areas where food will be made available.
  • Safety kits with masks, face shields and sanitizers will be given to all passengers.
  • Wheelchairs and golf cars will be available at the airports, but as older people are more susceptible to the disease - they should avoid travelling.

Safety tips you must keep in mind

  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for 20 seconds. You can use a hand sanitizer when water is unavailable.
  • Maintain a distance of 6 feet from other people
  • Use tissue to cover your mouth and nose every time you sneeze or cough, through the tissue immediately in a closed dustbin
  • Avoid touching your face after touching a surface that could a high touch spot like handles, trays, etc.
  • Wear masks and gloves before walking out of your house.
  • Sanitize your bags and other belongings before leaving home.
  • Cooperate with the staff and officials in case of emergency.
