The 21 day lockdown in India, has led to a complete shutdown of national and international travel. The flights, buses and trains of the country have stopped all operations. Due to this, a lot of international tourists who had travelled to India for leisure or business are stuck here. To help these tourists, the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India has launched a web portal.

Purpose of the portal

The web portal - strandedinindia.com is an effort by the Government of India to inform the stranded tourists about the services they can avail, and a support network for those stuck in various parts of the country, away from their homeland.

The 'Stranded in India' portal has the list of COVID-19 related helpline numbers or call centres the foreign tourists can contact for help. It also has extensive information around the Ministry of External Affairs control centre and the important contact numbers.

Features and faciliites of the Portal

The portal offers detailed information on regional tourism support infrastructure. For the ones who need more information or further support and help, this app connects them to the concerned authorities.

The portal has a section where the stranded tourists can fill up a form and inform the Government of their location. They can give detailed information on their last travel destination, the place where they're stuck in and their contact details.

May help Indian citizens as well

The portal might also help Indian citizens stranded in other countries due to the worldwide lockdown, and want to return home. It will not only help the Indian travellers but also those who live outside India or do business as expatriates.
